Summary of CV:

Magda VINCX (° 1955), full professor at Ghent University (Belgium) is a specialist in marine benthic ecology. Since 1987 she is coordinating the Marine Biology Research Group (45 persons) (www.marinebiology.ugent.be). She is teaching e.g. Invertebrate Biodiversity, Marine Ecology, Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Ecology of Coastal Seas, Applied Biodiversity in the Bachelor/Master Biology, Master in Aquaculture and in the ERASMUS MUNDUS Master of Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (EMBC). She is promoter of 12 ongoing Ph.Ds (17 defended in the last 5 years). In total she has 246 refereed publications in taxonomy of benthic organisms, ecology of marine free-living nematodes, biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, biomonitoring, human impact studies. She has been involved in many (inter)national research programmes (MAFCONS, MarBEF, ENCORA, FP7-MESMA, ..).

Experience Higher education:

Post-doc experience in Ghent University since 1986, with a lot of teaching and research training experience. M. Vincx was chairperson of the educational committee of Biology (both Bachelor and Master programmes) from 1994 – 2004, and since 2008, coordinator of the ERASMUS MUNDUS Master programme in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (EMBC).
