Summary of CV:

Xabier Irigoien: Born 1966, PhD in Oceanography 1994.
Head of the Biological Oceanography & pelagic living resources section in the Marine Research Division of AZTI Foundation. I am interested in marine ecosystems, plankton ecology, plankton-fish interactions. Since 1994 successively worked in “Instituto de Ciencias del Mar” (CSIC, Barcelona), “Plymouth Marine Laboratory” (NERC, Plymouth) and “Southampton Oceanography Center” (NERC, Southampton), before joining AZTI in 2002. I have published 89 papers in refereed journals and books, participated in 25 projects (leaded 5) and I am associate editor Marine Biology and Member of the editorial council of Journal Plankton Research. I have supervised 3 master students, 4 finished PhD supervisions and currently supervising 3 PhD students. Participated in 41 conferences, 36 scientific cruises and 13 PhD examinations. Fluent in Spanish, Basque, French and English.
