Doctoral Programme on Marine Ecosystem Health and Conservation
Call for PhD Subjects - Edition 3
Important note: this information is only for staff members of the MARES institutes:

Hereby we announce proudly the opening of the third call for PhD subjects for the doctoral programme on Marine Ecosystem Health and Conservation (MARES).

The call is open until September 1st 2012.

During this period you are invited to submit PhD subjects to the MARES Secretariat. PhD subjects shall be screened on eligibility by the Secretariat. Eligible subjects shall then be evaluated by the MARES Scientific Board. By September 15th 2012 the catalogue of approved subjects will be published on the website and will be open for application by interested students.

Note that a maximum of 10 subject proposals can be submitted per primary institution (as agreed at the Management Board Meeting February 11 in Paris). Note as well that PhD subjects should be written taking into account that PhD research activities will start in September / October 2013. And that a PhD should be finished in 3 years.

During the last MARES management board meeting (Ghent, Belgium, February 2012) it was decided that the third call shall be slightly different compared to the formed two in order to encourage the involvement of all MARES partners and in order to make the selection process easier.

This third call has a limit on Partner Eligibility to submit PhD subjects and nine PhD subjects will be earmarked as “Erasmus Mundus funded”. You can find more detailed information on this in Guidelines.

Check also the MARES website for more detailed information about the structure of the MARES doctoral programme. In case of doubts or questions, please feel free to contact the MARES secretariat.
