The Call for Applications for Doctoral Candidates for MARES' Fifth and last call was open from September 1st 2014 to December 1st 2014.It is no longer possible to submit an application. 

The PhD Subject Catalogue of this Edition (nr.5 / 2014) contains thirteen phd subjects that applicants can apply for. Applicants have to indicate a first choice subject and may indicate a second choice subject. We expect to have around 6 scholarschips available. The exact number of available scholarships will be communciated to us by the funding organisation EACEA around January 2015.

Applications were open for 3 months, from September 1st until December 1st 2014. 
Applications have been closed on December 2nd, 9 AM (UTC+1 / Belgian time). 

 

 

 

  • Between December 2014 & February 2015 all applications will be evaluated. Applicants who get a high ranking based on the evaluations may also be interviewed (skype / telephone) late January/early February. 
  • Early February 2015 the preliminary selection results will be disseminated. All applicants will then receive a feedback email regarding their selection status. Selected applicants will be asked to confirm their provisional acceptance of the fellowship in February. 
  • There will be no feedback on the applications before March 2015.

 

 



The application phase for MARES' Fourth Edition was open for 3 months: from September 1st 2013 to December 2nd 2013. This was for fellowships starting at the earliest September 2014. Four application rounds have now already passed (2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013) and we expect to publish one more application round in September 2014.

Each year there are about six to nine scholarships available: 3 or 2 for Category B applicants; 5 or 4 for Category A applicants and conditionally 1 for an external window candidate (Western Balkan / Turkey). 

The application process happens fully online. Applicants have to register an account, fill in an online application form and upload the required documents before the deadline in December. It is not necessary to do everything in one session. The application form will save all inputted information, so it's possible to continue completing this form at a later date.
